When two of Hollywood's biggest names collide with the high-octane world of hydrofoil racing, you know you're in for a spectacular show on the water.
In a game-changing move for Australian sports entertainment, global superstars Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds have officially teamed up as co-owners of Australia's dominant SailGP team - now dramatically rebranded as the BONDS Flying Roos. This thrilling announcement comes alongside a historic sponsorship deal with legendary Australian underwear brand BONDS, marking their debut as the team's first-ever Title Partner.
The newly christened BONDS Flying Roos will make their grand premiere under this exciting new identity at this weekend's Mubadala New York Sail Grand Prix on June 7-8. With championship glory within their grasp and their famous new owners cheering from shore, both anticipation and stakes have reached unprecedented heights.
Canadian funnyman Reynolds, best known for his irreverent Deadpool persona, couldn't resist adding his signature humor to the occasion: "We're incredibly excited to set sail together in this new adventure. Hugh brings a deep love for and pride in his home country as well as being an avid fan of sailing."
The Wolverine Factor
"He will also be bringing his overly clingy emotional support human along for the ride," Reynolds quipped. "Apologies in advance to Australia. No comment on whether we're writing this in our BONDS. No further questions."
Jackman needs no introduction to global audiences after his iconic seventeen-year run portraying Wolverine in Marvel's X-Men franchise.
The fusion of Hollywood glamour with elite competitive sailing creates an electrifying synergy that promises to revolutionize how fans engage with water sports. For Jackman, it represents both a heartfelt return to his Australian heritage and a celebration of his lifelong passion for ocean adventures. For Reynolds - already known for unconventional business ventures - it marks another bold step into uncharted waters (literally). Together they bring unparalleled star power to one of sport's most technologically advanced competitions.
